A Nation Divided

With the lack of progress, in the ongoing conflicts between the House Republicans and the Senate Democrats…it’s seriously making President Obama look foolish…very foolish. Whether the argument is about raising the Debt-Ceiling or the threat of Defaulting on debt, it seems, to the outside world, that the United States is by far not the country than once was. With all the media reports on this story, it has become evident that nothing else really matters until this problem is resolved. With much of the world looking in, Americans are being perceived as weak and losing ground on the superpower status. Sometimes I wonder, what if, the United States dropped a spot, to number two! What would happen? Though some may agree or disagree of the worldly status of the United States, it would make for a great debate. But, that’s another blog…

It is with much regret that the House Republicans are alone in a fight that is just dragging along. This is what it must have felt like, when the three hundred Spartans went against the Persians. It’s a battle that is closing in pretty fast on them, but remain vigilant and sturdy, but still…I can’t help but wonder how long can they keep this up. They are the minority, with the power to demonstrate stopping power to President Obama, but can easy veto or use executive order. I understand the debt-ceiling argument and what they want to accomplish by not wanting to raise the debt-ceiling without the compromise of spending cuts. It only seems fair. Their approval ratings are extremely low, low enough to be a serious embarrassment that will be historically recorded, and will soon decide the fate, of every single person who has a 401K (here we go again).

The Senate Democrats really have their work cut out for them. They have the back of the President, but can’t get nothing passed without the approval of Congress. It’s the back and forth that keeps on going, and going, and going…(remember that darn bunny), The rhetoric is certainly up from the President and the Democrats, but it really is much talk and not actions that are leading to a solution. The majority of the rhetoric of catastrophe, comes out with many of the talk that President Obama has said in the past, when things pretty much didn’t change. Maybe people are starting to wonder, that the catastrophic mess that would ensue if the debt-ceiling isn’t raised, that nothing would change, other than interest rates going up.
